Youth Middle School Baseball League Update
League Meeting Summary: The League Meeting took place on Sunday, January 19th at 2 PM at the Cavalier Athletic Center (1245 Western Avenue, Chillicothe, OH 45601). During the meeting, changes to the umpire and pitch counts were voted on and approved. For more details, please refer to the rules section.
Team Signups and Updates: All teams are reminded to complete their signups and update the league on any changes to the tentative teams listed below. Schools with only one team should contact the league by January 26, 2025, to confirm whether they will be playing in the A or B division this season.
Entry Fee: The entry fee is $50 per team, due by February 25, 2025. Venmo payments are preferred (@Post757Baseball_Coach-Barr), or checks can be made payable to and mailed to: 757 Baseball, 13299 Marietta Rd., Kingston, OH 45644.

South Central Ohio Middle School Baseball League Rules
A Division Rules
- OHSAA Rules (with modified Pitch Counts)
- Balks: No balk warning required (Umpire may issue a warning at their discretion).
- Bats: Drop 3 BBCOR bats (or wood) only. Exception: 7th graders or younger playing up in the A division may use a USSSA drop 5 bat. Bats must be 2 ⅝ inches in diameter.
- Batting: DH and/or EH, or Bat Roster.
- Game Length: 7 innings (unless shorter games are agreed upon by both head coaches before the game begins).
- Time Limits: No new innings after 1 hour and 45 minutes. Drop-dead stop at 2 hours with the final score being the score in the last completed inning.
- Doubleheaders: The second game will start 20 minutes after the first game is completed.
- Field Conditions: Final decision by 10 am on Sunday morning of game day. The home team must notify the opposing head coach and cancel umpires ASAP if games cannot be played.
B Division Rules

Pitching Rules
- Pitch Counts: Adhere to Smart Pitch Guidelines:
- Daily Pitch Limit: 95 pitches
- 0 Days of Rest: 1 – 30 pitches
- 1 Day of Rest: 31 – 50 pitches
- 2 Days of Rest: 51 – 75 pitches
- 3 Days of Rest: 76+ pitches
- Pitcher Continuation: A pitcher may finish the current batter if the daily pitch limit is reached during that at-bat.
- Doubleheader Restriction: No player is permitted to pitch in a second game on the same day if they throw more than 30 pitches in the first game.
- Suspended Games: All pitches thrown in a suspended game or a “no contest” game count toward the daily pitch limit.
- Scrimmages/Previews: All pitches thrown count toward the daily pitch limit.
- Record Keeping: Each team must keep a record of all pitches thrown by each player and make this available to the league upon request.
- Ineligible Pitching: Any player pitching during a required rest period is considered ineligible. Victorious contests with ineligible players result in forfeiture.
Other Information
- Rainouts: Coaches must find makeup days throughout the week or on a Saturday.

- Schedule: Final league schedule sent around March 13th.
- Mercy Rule: 15 runs after 3 innings, 12 runs after 4 innings, or 10 runs after 5 innings.
- Baseballs: Each team provides 2 new leather baseballs per game.
- Warm-Up: Teams may pull a player out defensively to warm up a pitcher. The player is still eligible to hit.
- Feeding Teams: Teams will not feed other teams.
Umpires
- Scheduling: Home team schedules one umpire per game.
- Certification: Umpires should be OHSAA-certified.
- Cost: Both teams split the cost of umpires each weekend. The umpire fee is $75 per game, with each team paying for one game.
