Chillicothe, OH --
One of Chillicothe's oldest summer sports traditions is ready to rev up. The Chillicothe 757 Colts Baseball Program announces spring 2013 tryout dates on Saturday May 18 and Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Joseph W. Hoffman baseball diamond. All interested players should register online by clicking this link prior to the tryout. Players in high school are not eligibile to participate in the 757 Colts tryouts/workouts until their high school season is complete.
The program features 3 baseball clubs, the Senior American Legion team (for kids 19 and under), the Junior American Legion team (for kids 17 and under) and the 14U Team (for kids 14 and under). The teams will participate in nearly 100 games including league play (except the 14U team) as well as multiple tournaments located in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. Schedules are nearly complete for the Senior and Junior teams and the 14U team's schedule will be completed soon.
In 2013, the program will again host the Jim Jadwin Memorial Baseball tournament which will be a 14-team tournament featuring Senior American Legion baseball teams from Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia. The 14-team field brings to Chillicothe 28 American Legion State Championships including the 2012 Ohio State American Legion Champion Pickerington Post 283. The 2013 Colts Senior team will also participate in the Hillsboro Woodbat, the Ohio American Legion Region 5 with a goal of representing Region 5 in the 2013 Ohio American Legion Baseball tournament.
Both the Senior and Junior American Legion Colts will participate in the Beast of the East baseball tournament in Wheeling, WV. The Beast of the East Showcase kicks off the tournament and provides the opportunity for Colts Players to take part in the annual Beast of the East Player Showcase. This showcase is an excellent opportunity for players to show off their talents to college coaches and professional scouts. Participants are timed in the 60-yard dash, evaluated for arm speed and pop time and given a rating by a professional scout of their play at each position. This showcase enables scouts to see each player's strengths at the position the player chooses.
The 14U team wil open up the 2013 schedule for the program as they participate in the Jaguars Memorial Tournament beginning Friday, May 24th in Grove City. The 14U team will also participate in the Summer Slugfest in Hebron, KY, the Nations Baseball Ohio State Championship as well as one additional tournament to be scheduled.
If you are interested in this opportunity to become a better baseball player we look forward to seeing you at these tryouts/workouts.
